Jubilee Holidays

In August we partnered with another charity, Jubilee Holidays for their very first holiday at the Jonas Centre in North Yorkshire where they took ten families away (these families were connected through our community hubs, food clubs and were referred to us). These holidays were designed for families who do not usually get to go on holiday, due to financial or social reasons. They get to enjoy a holiday with support from an amazing team of trained volunteers, and food and activities are sorted for them. Many families attending were going through recovery, overcoming substance abuse as well as struggling with anxiety and depression. Many of the children had additional needs like autism and ADHD, so it was great for parents to get support while on holiday.
The families were really delighted with their log cabin accommodation which meant that as well as being in a group they had their own space to relax in. The programme had a great mixture of activities including a visit to the theme park, Lightwater Valley. One highlight was the shrills of laughter to be heard from the water games where one of the mums said that she had not laughed like that for years.
